september 25, 2019 Melrose Community Council Topic: “Melrose into action”

We’ve built enough consensus and momentum for community members to determine which topics they want to focus on and organize around so the main focus for the night was allowing folks to get together and start discussing what they want to do for ACs. Leaders stood and pitched their ideas for 1-2 minutes for Action Committees focused on creating change. Municipal agencies also reported status, Braunz Courtney was elected Vice Chair, and ACs broke out to work together as groups for the first time.

August 28, 2019 Melrose Community Council Topic: “Why don’t police come when we call 911?”

We invited OPD and Oakland 911 Dispatch to come have a conversation with Melrose community members to help us understand the decision making process both organizations use to determine whether or not they respond to our 911 call in Melrose.
